Professional Education Programme

The Professional Education Programme is an integral part of qualifying for the Statutory Auditor title and is delivered by the Institute of Authorised Chartered Auditors (IEKA) during professional practice. It is designed to meet Law no. 10091 of 5.3.2009, as amended, the International Education Standards (IES) and international best practice.

The Post-Master Programme

The programme takes the form of a post-master professional programme lasting three calendar years and runs alongside professional practice. During this time candidates follow the professional modules and take part in lectures, seminars, case discussions and tests, combining theory with practical audit experience.

The programme has been revised to align with contemporary professional standards and the structure of international qualifications, strengthening candidates' competence in financial reporting, audit, finance, law and professional ethics.

Programme objectives

The programme aims for candidates to:

01develop the professional competence to apply accounting, auditing and ethics standards in practice;
02acquire advanced knowledge of financial reporting, finance, law and audit;
03connect theory with professional practice;
04develop the analytical, professional and ethical skills needed to practise in the public interest.

How the programme is organised

The programme is organised into professional modules delivered across the three years of professional practice. Teaching is delivered through:

Teaching materials, syllabi and reading for each module are made available to candidates at the start of every academic year.

Attendance and assessment

Attendance is mandatory. Candidates must meet the attendance and assessment requirements of each module, under IEKA's regulation, in order to continue the programme and to sit the corresponding tests.

Completing the programme

Successfully completing the Professional Education Programme, together with the professional practice requirements, entitles a candidate to register for the Professional Competence Examinations run by the Professional Competence Examinations Commission (KPAP) for the Statutory Auditor title.
