Registration Procedure

Candidates who meet the admission requirements may apply to register for professional practice, in accordance with the Statutory Audit Law, the Regulation on Professional Education and the decisions of IEKA's Governing Council.

The steps

From submitting the documents to being registered as a candidate for Statutory Auditor.

1Submitting the documentsThe registration request is filed together with the personal, academic and professional-practice documents.
2Review of the applicationThe documents are reviewed by the CPD Committee together with the Executive Director; the decision is taken by the Governing Council.
3Entry testHeld in January–February of the first year of professional practice; it is eliminatory.
4Registration as a candidateThe candidate is enrolled in the Professional Education Programme and begins professional practice.

1. Submitting the documents

The registration request must be accompanied by the following documents:

Personal documents
A written request addressed to the CPD Committee;
An identification document;
An up-to-date Curriculum Vitae (CV);
A criminal record certificate;
Academic documents
A notarised university degree, comprising:a)A Bachelor's degree (3 years) and a Master's degree; orb)An integrated second-level degree; orc)Degrees equivalent to these;
A notarised transcript of records for each degree;
Professional-practice documents
The professional practice agreement, with a three-year full-time employment contract;
A notarised declaration that the candidate has no other full-time employment relationship;
An individual employment contract with the practice supervisor (under the Albanian Labour Code);

The degrees under (a), (b) and (c), following the categories of Law No. 10307 of 22.7.2010 “On higher education in the Republic of Albania”, as amended, cover any field of study in the economic sciences — accounting, finance, business administration, economics or equivalent. The list may be updated in line with the regulation in force.

The professional practice agreement

The agreement is drawn up in three copies and attached to the application. It sets out the rights and obligations of the candidate and of the practice supervisor, as well as how the practice is carried out. Where the practice takes place at an audit firm, the firm appoints the statutory auditor responsible for supervising it.

2. Review of the application

Once the application window closes, the documents are reviewed by the Committee for Education and Continuing Professional Development (CPD Committee) together with the Executive Director.

The Committee submits to the Governing Council the list of candidates who meet the admission requirements, together with the rejected candidates and the reasoning. The final decision rests with the Governing Council.

The list of admitted candidates is published on IEKA's official website; candidates who are not admitted are notified in writing, with the reasons for the rejection.

3. Entry test

Candidates who meet the registration requirements are invited to sit the entry test, held in January–February of the first year of professional practice.

The test is held once only and is eliminatory. A candidate who does not sit it may restart professional practice the following year.

4. Registration as a candidate for Statutory Auditor

After successfully completing the registration procedure and the entry test, the candidate is enrolled in the Professional Education Programme and begins professional practice.

Fees are approved by IEKA's Governing Council and updated by the relevant decision.
